My Story

I was born in 1965 in the picturesque market town of St. Neots, Cambridgeshire, and from a young age, I developed a love for painting. Initially, I worked with acrylics, focusing primarily on birds and parrots, fascinated by their vibrant colours and unique forms. This early period allowed me to explore the intricate beauty of nature, but it was when I started experimenting with pastels 15 years ago that my artistic journey took a new and exciting direction.

Pastels offered me the ability to achieve a level of softness, depth, and detail that truly resonated with my vision. Over time, I dedicated myself to mastering this medium, continuously refining my technique year after year. Each piece I create is the result of countless hours of meticulous work, where I focus on bringing out the finest details of the animals I portray—capturing not just their likeness but their spirit and character.

My love for wildlife has taken me far beyond the studio. Over the years, I’ve travelled extensively across the UK, visiting numerous zoos to photograph a wide range of animals. These visits are a crucial part of my process, allowing me to capture the essence of each creature. The photographs I take during these trips serve as the foundation for my artwork, ensuring that every piece I create is grounded in real-life experiences.

In addition to my wildlife art, I am honoured to have been commissioned by clients to create professional, highly detailed portraits of their beloved pets. Drawing dogs, cats, and other cherished animals allows me to bring a personal connection to my work, capturing the unique personality and essence of each pet for its owner.

My work has been showcased in numerous art exhibitions across the UK, earning increasing recognition for the level of detail and realism I bring to my pastel and charcoal pieces. I was highly commended in the prestigious David Shepherd Wildlife Art Competition and have won various other awards. I am now gaining national recognition for my fine, detailed depictions of wildlife, each piece reflecting my deep connection with the natural world. The realism of my work has resonated with art collectors, wildlife enthusiasts, and galleries alike, and I’m excited to continue this journey as my artistic practice evolves.
